Johanna buchs: comeback in a class of its own

At midsummer temperatures the local track and field athletes once again convinced at the lower franconian championships. Hanna schmitt won three titles in marktheidenfeld in the U18 female youth category, while niklas amthor from TSV bad kissingen in the M15 and elisa eich from TV/DJK hammelburg in the U18 category were each successful twice. District pennants for their victories in the active category were also awarded to johanna buchs from TV/DJK hammelburg and thomas wollein in the M15 from TV bad bruckenau.

A big praise goes to the newly founded LG main-spessart, which had to do a lot of extra work due to the corona rules and organized this first rough athletics meeting on district level in an excellent way. Paul fella from hammelburg, who in addition to his function as district chairman for the rhon/saale district is also active as a competitor in the district, also praised the organizers: "these were extremely atmospheric championships. In the package it went great."

A rhythm problem

After a few years break johann buchs from TV/DJK hammelburg made an impressive comeback on the tartan track. The diebacherin, since three months in training, showed her class over the 100 meter hurdles. At least over the first eight of ten, of the 83.38 centimeter high hurdles. "Then i installed one more step without any need and lost the rhythm", she says after the run, in which she won the lower franconia ranking in a good 15.85 seconds. Also in the long jump, which was not a championship competition, she delighted with a good 5.19 meters and first place.

The strong female youths of the TV/DJK hammelburg made quite a splash in the u18s. Elisa eich, who the previous week had broken the qualifying standard for the german 400 meter hurdles championships, once again won the sprint title in her age group, finishing in 13.21 seconds in the 100 meters, closely followed by hanna schmitt (13.29). Elisa eich also topped the list of results in the 400 meters with a personal best of 61.14 seconds. Previously she had won the silver medal in the shot put (11.45 meters).

An outstanding distance

Hanna schmitt showed in several competitions why she is currently one of the most versatile athletes in the freestate. In the bavarian ranking list, the athlete from TV/DJK hammelburg is in third place in the shot put. She won the competition with an outstanding 11.96 meters and also did justice to her clear role as favorite in the discus throw with 30.18 meters. Over the 100 meter hurdles, the saalestadt native also won the district title despite a mistake on the penultimate hurdle. "There I got stuck and out of step and lost half a second. Without this mishap it would have been a really strong time", the all-around specialist is sure of one thing.

Two more youngsters from hammelburg follow the other places in the hurdle race. Lilian heid finished in 16.03 seconds and elisa eich needed only four hundredths of a second more than her team mate to pass the ten hurdles. In the frame competition of the long jump, the district champions will be decided on 22. August in hochberg, lilian heid had to admit defeat to the strong paula gerhard (5.41 meters/ LG main-spessart) with a distance of 5.18 meters.

The next strong performance

After their strong performance in the 300 meter hurdles the week before, niklas amthor and moritz fischer from TSV bad kissingen also stormed into the bavarian top of the M15 age group in the 80 meter hurdles. Especially niklas amthor set a huge exclamation mark with an outstanding 11.37 seconds. His team mate took second place in 11.89 seconds and improved his personal best by seven tenths of a second. Over 100 meters his training colleagues only had to admit defeat to the arrow-quick nils groetsch (11.73 seconds) from the LG main-spessart. Nevertheless, niklas amthor (12.17 seconds) and moritz fischer (12.27 seconds) also have a good chance of making the final in the sprints at the bavarian U16 championships, which are to be held in erding in early september.

Completely exhausted

Niklas amthor had the better end of the 300-meter flat course after a gripping finish against florian scheller from wurzburg. With his fast 39.82 seconds he could at least fight for bronze in this discipline at the bavarian championships. "At the moment I am not really enthusiastic about this distance, which is even more strenuous than the 300 meter hurdles, the 15-year-old was completely exhausted when he reached the finish line. It was a good thing that the organizers had set up cold water showers for the long sprinters and middle-distance runners to cool them down.

In the M14 age group, thomas wollein of TV bad bruckenau surprised the crowd. The protege of thomas dill sprinted the 100 meters in excellent 12.57 seconds and thus had very good chances to win the final ticket for the bavarian championships. The athlete from oberleichtersbach, who trains three times a week, was also ahead in the long jump frame competition with his jump of 4.84 meters. The 14-year-old achieved another podium place with 8.13 meters in the shot put. Maxima maiwald from TV/DJK hammelburg had to admit defeat in the W15 over 300 meters in a good 45.83 seconds only to julie denkey from the LAZ district of wurzburg.

Since the title bouts were held as "open championships a very large number of strong athletes from abroad came to marktheidenfeld to compete in the bavarian championships. One of them was nick przeliorz from nudlingen, wearing the jersey of the LG fulda. The district record holder (10.90 seconds) of the youth U18 had to leave michael gabel of the LG LK aschaffenburg just behind in 11.13 seconds over the 100 meters with a slight headwind. "On the last meters it was not quite enough today. But that’s the way it is in sprinting. Once you win by a narrow margin, once you lose by a narrow margin", he took it easy "only to be the second fastest underfranconian.

Over 200 meters nick przeliorz was also second in a good 22.75 seconds behind tilmann jedlitschka from USC mainz. Timo reinhart from mabbach and clemens schmitt from niederlauer, who both start for the LG fulda, finished fourth and fifth in 23.31 seconds and 23.35 seconds respectively.

One of the many highlights of the event was certainly the performance of andre luis from MT melsungen, who achieved 17.06 meters in the M15 shot put and even a german annual best in the discus (57.62 meters).
