Cups should become safer

Cups should become safer

The topic of flood protection for the districts of johannisthal and au was the focus of tuesday evening’s council meeting. It was about the awarding of the work for the building ground investigations.

Before the decision was made, matthias kohler of the kohler office in bad steben presented the preliminary plans. Accordingly, flood protection in johannisthal is to be increased by channeling the floodwater over the rodach river. Among other things, this would require an installation structure and piping, kohler explained. The outflow in the floodplain is to be throttled so that less water flows through johannisthal. The rest of the water was cut off via a pipe and led into the river rodach. The railroad culvert is also to be used for this. Kohler explained that they had tried to approach public areas during the planning phase.

In au, kohler explained, the flood protection dike designed as a ring dike is sufficiently high. It is now a question of proposals as to how this dike could be strengthened. There is a need for action along the two. Here the structural condition must be analyzed. In addition, it must be explored by how many meters the dike must be raised. If it turns out that the dike is capable of carrying current, it would be possible to seal the corresponding area. It would also be possible to install a sheet pile wall in the ground.

New symbol of resistance in thailand

New symbol of resistance in thailand

The democracy movement in thailand is young, colorful and creative – and recently got a very cute new hero: a yellow rubber ducky.

The inflatable animals with the smiling faces, which are actually intended for swimming pools, have been the protagonists of every new protest rally against the government since mid-november, being raised to the sky or placed in the front row at sit-ins. Photos and videos of protesters with their ducks also go viral on social networks – as they have in recent days. But what is it all about?

On 17. November activists wanted to march to the parliament building in bangkok as part of a demonstration. Protests in thailand have been going on for months. Demands include new elections and more democratic rights, but it’s also about the role of the monarchy. However, the police had set up barricades and blocked the way for the demonstrators. They came to the demonstration with huge rubber ducks and joked that the only way to reach parliament was to float across the river chao phraya.

Montessori students present their “rough work” in thurn castle

Montessori students present their

Before the 22 students of the ninth grade of the private montessori school forchheim take the exams for the qualifying high school diploma next spring, they have already completed an important hurdle for the finale of their school career: they presented their "rough work" in the romance hall of thurn castle in front of over 200 guests.
In the "rough work the montessori students can bring in the variety of their competences: handicraft work, scientific research, text creation, design of an exhibition table and at the end a power-point-presentation as a presentation of their work.
The "rough work is the montessori-specific part of the school diploma and consists of a practical part, in which a workpiece or similar is created, and a theoretical part with an average of 30 pages. The students have six months to work out their topic in theory and practice.
A jury evaluates the results. The jurors were montessori business manager sibylle kellner, the school principals birgit burczyk-wening and anja wenkemann, the head of class anja bezold, the retired school councilor rosemarie thiele, and hans rosemann, retired head of works.
The topics and the mentors, who accompany them professionally, were chosen by the students themselves. Most of the topics are strongly influenced by the personalities of the young people and they work on them with corresponding enthusiasm. Often hobbies are included in the choice of topic, such as the conception of a dance choreography or the illustration of a self-designed children's book, the organization of a rough handball tournament or the conception of a tennis training session. Or students create something practical like writing and setting to music a horn play, building a bird aviary or programming a computer game or website.

Complex topics

The professionalism with which the young people, who are on average 15 years old, approach their topic and the self-confidence with which they present it to the public, show that the young people are familiar with the "rough work" have grown and demonstrated the ability to work on a complex topic in a concentrated and well-founded manner over a long period of time. In the last few years, some of them have also been able to make a living from their "rough work" alone so convinced he got an apprenticeship on the first try.

Beaver keeps kirchlauter on its toes

Beaver keeps kirchlauter on its toes

The only item on the agenda of the last municipal council meeting this year was to be the entry of the municipality of kirchlauter into the music school of ebern – until everything turned around the beaver, which is up to mischief in the clearing system of kirchlauter and thus also disturbs the peace at christmas.

As mayor karl-heinz kandler pointed out, the "beaver" has been causing three hours of work for our municipal workers every day for the last four weeks. Overnight, he worked so hard each time that there was a front-loader hodgepodge of ashes and small trees to remove.".

In this context, the mayor said that there are two oxidation ponds at the clearing plant, but one of them is no longer used. In this one, only a water height of one meter is given. He has already contacted the lower nature conservation authority about the problem and is still waiting for an answer. That is why he is disappointed and feels left alone with this problem.

In schweinfurt, 17 of 45 fountains are in operation

In schweinfurt, 17 of 45 fountains are in operation

Climate change makes it possible. The fountains and water features in the city still run in october, the fountain on schillerplatz, the water band at the stadtgalerie and the stairway fountain at the jagersbrunnen also in winter. The splashing, bubbling or leisurely flowing water is looked after by the city’s gardeners.

17 fountains, 16 in the city center and the rough blue fountain in front of the AOK building at the main train station, are on the list of manuel ortloff and daniel scheckenbach, who take care of the fountains along the streets, on squares and in the parks at the servicebetrieb bau und stadtgrun (service company for construction and city grounds).

Apart from the market fountain in front of the town hall, which provides drinking water and, on special occasions, also wine, and which society demands harmony, the intact fountains today are equipped with a water circuit including recirculation systems, so that only evaporation and drift (including the loss of water due to wind) have to be compensated for. The water pressure is set to "a minimum, but the look has to be right", says manuel ortloff.

The people of reichenbach want the village festival

the people of reichenbach want the village festival

"For me a village is the people and not the buildings." Oliver hillenbrand (19) also wrote his screenplay according to this motto and put it into practice. That the people were in the right place at the right time – that's why local officer fabian noth (27) took care of them. "It took both of us, we have each other erganzt", they say. The result is a unique video that made it to the final five in the "village of villages" competition the village rocker, the saale newspaper and our site has managed. Reichenbach is the only one from lower franconia and now the makers and contributors are hoping for support from the whole district. From 1. Up to the 8. April the winner is determined by online voting. "If we win, we don't take any entrance fee, the festival is meant for everyone", promises fabian noth.

It took a bit
abian noth had already heard about the competition in november last year and contacted oliver hillenbrand. But the student of media science and media practice did not have time. This changed when the local recruiter asked a second time at carnival: semester break. Oliver hillenbrand set to work.
Own ideas had to be combined with the specifications. Each video is based on the song "dorfkind", that is three minutes and 40 seconds long. And with that the long of the video was fixed.

The starting point for the music video was the "harlem shake". The principle: a person dances, the surrounding people don't seem to notice this NOTE. Then there is a cut and suddenly everyone dances like crazy. This topic has been adapted by the video producers. There is a frame story and many funny scenes with everything the village has to offer: young people, old people, fire department, kindergarten, musicians, dances and much more. "What i like best is this village community, that people really stick together, says oliver hillenbrand. And that he has implemented in his video.
